Regenerating Rotten Apples

Solon was one of the great thinkers of ancient Greece. Even today, he is remembered as a great lawgiver.
One day, Solon went out among the citizens, holding a rotten apple in his hand. He raised a question to the people who had gathered around him, “Can anyone tell me what I can do to regenerate this apple, to make it new?”
The people shook their heads in negation. What could one do with a rotten apple? As for making it new, whoever heard of such a thing? It had to be thrown away – and that was it.
Receiving no answers to his query, Solon cut the apple into four pieces.

On collecting the seeds of the apple, he said to them, “The way to make this apple new, to create new apples out of this rotten apple, is to sow these seeds. Out of these seeds will bloom forth new apples.”
The people marveled at the lawgiver’s vision and wisdom. How could they have forgotten that even the rotten apple contained within itself the source of new life – its seeds!

“If you wish to build a new house, get the best quality cement and steel!
If you wish to build a new town, plant trees!
If you wish to build a new humanity, begin with the child.”

PRACTICAL TIP:

Encourage children to read about the lives of great ones and to keep good company. They must be able to choose between what is right and wrong and what is ethical and unethical. Equally important, is to instill in them the lesson that when they face something or someone corrupt, it does not mean that all is lost. When humanity becomes rotten, remember that the seeds of humanity are its children. Invest in them. Take care of them, for they can regenerate humanity.

Why Do We Take Someone Else Advises And Not Our Parents?

This is a story of a guy who wants to start his own business or wants to invest in stock market. He just wants to quit his own job because he was tired of doing the same work over and over again. It all happens when suddenly one day a quote flashes on his screen.

The quote was from "CHARLES BUKOWSKI", Factotum, 1975. It was a very famous quote :
"How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 am by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?"

This quote made so much influence on his mind that from that day he could not concentrate on his job and had started analyzing on doing some business and also he was taking advises from people around. After doing so much searching and taking advises one day he finally decides to quit his job and start his own business or something else but not the job so that he can enjoy his own life and be grateful to the things going around and most importantly made lots of money for himself to enjoy life as well also give his parents life they might have dreamed about when they were young.

The guy started taking advises from different people. First of all he ask them to give their opinion on whether "They would like to do their own business or will they just continue doing the work for somebody else?" The responses he got for this question were quite interesting.

Someone told that "It is hard for them to start his own business. It requires financial security."
Someone told that "It takes courage to start the business and it might not end up well."
Someone told that "They don't have any knowledge in business then how is it possible for them to do so?"
Someone told that "They don't have financial background so that they can not even think of it."
Someone told that "What business should I start? I don't have any idea on what should I do."

These are some of the responses that he got from different people.
There is one common thing we can see from the responses that they are having lack of self confidence and also they are afraid to take the risk.

After taking their opinions he also take some advises from the people so that he might find some useful stuff and can utilize that in future. Now here is the main thing. The guy has taken advises from so many people but he didn't ask his parents who have also lived their life and may faces so many challenges. We can take advises from the people and also they will give but it is not sure that the advise they are giving is right or genuine. While if we ask from our parents then surely they will try their best to give us the proper advise and we can blindly believe it. We can blindly accept it and it is always genuine. So why do we take someone else advise when we can take the best advise from our parents?.

Lastly I would like to mention that our parents makes so many sacrifices for us. Sometimes we don't even know what they might have let go for themselves so that we can get the best or whatever we want. So, I think first we need to take advise from our parents and then we can also take other people's advise.

What Are The Steps Of Positive Thinking?

Becoming a positive thinker is easy when you know the steps of positive thinking...

...and of course, you also apply them!

To benefit from positive thinking you need to be able to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones.

How do you do that?

Follow these steps of positive thinking:

Be aware of your thoughts. Choose a quiet spot to just sit and observe what goes on in your mind. Don't engage with any thought; just watch how your mind wanders. Meditation helps to do this.
Most people are over-identified with their thoughts and as a consequence they suffer. Be aware of your thoughts. Realize that your mind is not you.

Realize your negative thoughts. You may need a bit of soul-searching, as some of our negative thoughts are really deep beliefs about life.
Negative thoughts trigger negative emotions. A negative emotion (fear, jealousy, worry, anger, and many more) points at something going on that doesn't match with what you actually want or are.

Most people often just react to the negative emotions. You can take your negative emotions as indicators that you are maintaining negative thoughts.

Don't be at the mercy of your emotions; rather use them to know yourself better and understand which thoughts and beliefs cause your negative emotions and why.

Change your negative thoughts for positive ones. You can only think of one thing at a time, so if you think about something positive, there is no room for negativity.

Acknowledge the existence of the negative thought. Replace it for a positive one.

For example, if you find yourself worrying about money and bills to pay, you could instead think that you always have all the money you need at any point, or you could feel grateful that you have money to spend.

This example is simple though. If you wanted to dig deeper, you could still think about what is worrying you, but in a way that is positive about it and made you feel good. Having a positive attitude is seeing the glass half full.

You can always be supportive of yourself and take the necessary steps of positive thinking by repeating these positive self statements. There are also other good positive thinking programs that can help you become a more positive person.

Don't carry the world upon your shoulders

There are times that it does not seem so easy to get rid of negative thoughts, especially if you think you have a large problem.

Notice that I say "seem" because thinking positive is ultimately a matter of choice, and it is always possible.

When we feel down our mind just tricks us to think that it is much more difficult than it actually is.

We need to acknowledge when we feel overwhelmed. If the circumstances are just "too much", let them be for a while and focus on living in the present you are in.

Come back to your issues when you are ready to deal with them.

From that point on, the power is yours to follow these steps of positive thinking and choose something positive to focus on. You may use these quotes for positive thinking to inspire you or take up on one of these positive thinking activities.

Beware though...

If your negative emotions repeat themselves frequently and show a pattern, you may be keeping an old belief that does not match with what you now want.

In this case, thinking about something different and positive will not help you in the long run: the negative emotion will come back.

These steps of positive thinking will help you in the moment, but it is better to deal with the actual ingrained belief and stop having negative emotions altogether.

You may like to explore why you keep a belief that makes you feel bad. Wouldn't it make sense to change it for a belief that makes you feel good?

Talking about beliefs, Norman Vincent Peale combined positive thinking and Christianity in his famous book "The power of positive thinking". You may like to check this out if you are a Christian.

Summing up the steps of positive thinking:

Be aware of having thoughts
Use your negative emotions as indicators that you are having negative thoughts

Replace your negative thoughts for positive ones
